This is my quick and dirty entry for 14-Bis's Kanker Sisters Jam: [link]

I wish I had time to make a nice background for this one. I also wish I had time to fix some of the problems in this drawing but I just don't. I will try fix them and update the drawing later.

So, first and foremost this picture was done using my new Cintiq 12X tablet. I really am getting the hang of using it. It is a fine tool. My first 2 attempts to use it were not very impressive. Now I feel much more confident with results like this.

Now, I should say that this is not the original result of my tablet. I did the sketch in the Gimp and then I vectorized the image to smooth the lines a lot and then I colored it. So what you are seeing is a sketch that was already pretty smooth and clean looking because it was digitally done. Then it was further enhanced with vectorization.

I am also experimenting with a slightly new line technique. When I was working with pencils, I never really tried to vary the size of my sketch lines but now I am giving that a try. I think the results are encouraging and very nice looking.

As for the image content itself, I know there are a couple of things that look weird. The most apparent is the contrast between May's traditional face model style and the very realistic and voluptuous adult body I gave her. I'm not particularly happy with the starkness of the contrast but I'm still pretty happy with the picture.

At first I tried to mimic the face styles of Garabato and Fern but that proved not work for me. So I ended up using the show's original style verbatim.

Her head is too small (about 15% by my calculations). I know that. I will correct that in a day or two when I have some more time.

Lastly I know the clothing looks sort of thrown on her. It was. Gotta try to keep this picture PG13 here on DeviantArt. I will upload the *original* version at my WWOEC website eventually.

One final comment, I know I made May look lush. I really started to like May after watching the Ed, Edd and Eddy Valentines Day Special: Hanky Panky Hullabaloo.

If you ever see any artwork of May with smaller breasts than her sisters, I would say that is wrong. :) May's heavyset body type would probably give her a more ample chest than her sisters. In my drawing however, this is a bit overboard. Oh well. I did try to thicken her figure up a bit, but I don't think I succeeded quite enough.

In the words of Brain from Pinky and the Brain
(to May Kanker): "Puberty was inordinately kind to you."

Update: I want to give credit to MaxBlackRabbit for his picture of Maxine which inspired this pose.

Yeah, I initally didn't like May as much in the beginning as I do now...probably thanks to the specials as well.

THERE WAS A KANKER JAM AND I DIDN'T GET THE MEMO?! :pissed: :(

But you're work is good, ya know. You should post in the wacky forums more...or is that just because since you're an artist there you don't need too right?

Oh, ad that Gimp program...was that free or how much did that set you back?

I think one of the main reasons I started to like May is that I feel for situation after seeing the special. There something about the vulnerable person that makes me care for them more.

And yeah, there was a Kanker Jam. It helps to watch Fern's / 14-bis's journals. He seldom posts a lot but whenever he does it is usually worth your time to read.

Thanks for the compliments. I plan to post at the wacky forums again soon. Life is busy and I have spent time improving my line work (as you may have noticed).

I don't quite understand your question about whether I should post at the wacky forums or not since I am an artist.

The Gimp is free. I don't use Photoshop. You can ask on the forums or the forum chatroom for help with Gimp (and other art techniques). I would be happy to share my knowledge.

It's never really about what you have, but what you have thrown away.
:iconshostyle:
oh, what I meant by "artist" is that you have a page up on Wacky so that you don't need to post in the forums.

Dang man, you did a sweet job with May here. Heh, I kind of figured on the whole Valentine's Special gig, seeing as how many started getting into her after that one instance.

Started with Marie, and it's going over to May...I still wonder as to what Lee would have to do to get her own shine.

Anyway, swell work with this piece; thanks for sharing, and I hope to see the "uncut" version soon (or "cut," if puns are allowed).

All that has ever been created was done so for a reason, even if that reason is just for it to be.

I don't have to post on the forums but I usually do post on my website and the forums. Of course, that is when I post. I have been too busy or too tired to do much of anything creative for months now. Hopefully that will change here in a few months when my current job finishes and I move onto a different career.

Thanks for the compliments. I have been meaning to get around to posting the "cut" version of this on the wacky forum, but I just have not had time to do some final touches on the picture that I want. It will happen eventually but life is just too busy at the moment.

Marie is just one of the many girls I do want to eventually draw.

Ah, I understand you well in that; college life can indeed make you quite busy.

Either way, I've patience, and I wish you the best with those endeavors of yours.

And, yes, it would be nice to see Marie.
